Review: The first thing you notice at the JobPress site is the list of live demo sites using this WordPress theme. Listed first is Fox News, yes that Fox News. Whatever your political bend, you have to agree Fox News is an extremely successful cable giant owned by a huge corporation. And they use JobPress, pretty impressive.

With my interest piqued, I took a look around the Fox News Site’s Job Board (as well as the other live demo sites provided). Well, it looked pretty much like any other job board. I was not bowled over, but not scarred off. I thought to myself, “If it’s good enough for a big site like Fox News I’ll give it a shot”. So I purchased a single site license for $79 and quickly got started. Uh oh, , the first sign of trouble was the download time. No problems or errors mind you. but it took all of one second (maybe less) to download this thing to my old, quite slow computer system. Unlike many of the other themes reviewed here, JobPress comes with no plugins, either attached or recommended. It’s a theme and only a theme, and a very simple one at that.

Once you’ve downloaded, uploaded and activated JobPress, you’ll find a simple settings page in WordPress-admin that allows you to enter your paypal address for receiving payments, allows you to choose between free or pay ads, and allows you to customize your messages to your clients. The JobPress admin page also asks you if you wish to use the “Auto Publish” function or not. To be honest, I had no idea what “Auto Publish” means. Which leads me to the theme’s major problem…

JobPress comes with no instructions. No instructions on the programmer’s website. No instructions attached in a “readme” file. No instructions period. Now that’s not to say you can’t figure this one out yourself. Like I stated before, this a very simple theme with no extra plugins and a limited admin settings page. But, if you’re like me it’s somewhat reassuring to see some kind of instructions and or explanations included in any piece of software. Especially one that costs $79.

While we’re on the subject of disappointments. JobPress also contains a few, scattered grammatical and spelling mistakes throughout the theme’s pages. Although these are somewhat simple to find and correct, At $79 you shouldn’t have to.

Now to the positives. Once you get the kinks ironed of this theme you can actually create a nice little job board.

All in all, JobPress is a somewhat overpriced, slightly flawed, very simple, yet serviceable job board solution. I’m giving it a slight recommendation because and only because it’s made for WordPress. That fact alone will allow you to grow and further customize your job board site.
